Seneca Stone Cutting Mill

Not your typical bass boat.  Some of the boats on display at the park. Some serious power.  What is a festival without BBQ?  Serious grilling in the park.
The "Flying Button" docks with the first fish of the day. At the park waiting for the fish to come up and be weighted. Capt. Many and his 40.31 pound Kingfish.

Captain Many (sp?) on his boat, “Flying Button”, was the first in to weigh a fish. According to people at the dock, the “Flying Button” anchored out from the dock on the Saint Marys River about 9:30 or 10:00; weigh-in would begin at 3:00 PM. So they waited. They couldn’t start fishing until 7:00 AM.

At 3:00, the judges met the boat at the dock and put the entry into a large bag. Then they brought it to the weighing area. Before they took the fish out of the bag, they asked for guesses; those ranged from 39 to 60 pounds.

According to Captain Many, they got to their fishing ground about 60 miles from Jacksonville. They were going to fish a “patch of live bottom”. The first line was put out with a blue runner for bait. Then two other lines were let out. At that time, the first line started running. Around 10 minutes later, the fish had been gaffed and was in the boat.

They took the fish out of the bag and hung it on the weighing scales – 40.31 pounds. Last years winner came in at 37.18 pounds.

Whoever the winner is for this year, they will take home a 2007 Sierra 1500 Crew Cab ($30,000 MSRP) as well as $20,000 cash.

Besides fishing, the River BBQ Classic was also held with a $1,000 Reserve Champion prize. There were also separate prizes for the best in chicken, ribs, pork, and brisket.
