Seneca Stone Cutting Mill

Dave, from the Crown Plaza, came and picked me up from the Rochester airport in the shuttle. From one of the pedestrian bridges across the Genesee River.  Really quite pretty at night. Looking down the river you can see the rainbow just above the bridges.

Looking up the river to the falls at Rochester.  This would have given the city a lot of energy to be used in the milling of flower and powering of other machines early in its history.  All they had to do was to divert some of the water from around the falls and over waterwheels. In fact, one of the old waterwheels is still in existance in an historical district near the falls. Across the river from the historic district is a brewery company.  Note the abandoned railroad trestle between the brewery and the river.
Here you can see how they built right on the edge of the cliff.  The break in the cliff is overcome by steel beams that hold up the building above it.  This is in the historic district of High Falls. The skyline with the "Wings of Victory" on top of the building on the right and a statue on the building to the left. Across the street from the Crown Plaza was the Wild Side Bar & Grill.  They had this very interesting flower growing among the booths.  The blooms only open once for a very short time, but, it is said, the aroma is wonderful!

We also had a photo shoot tour of Letchworth State Park; the George Eastman House, as well as lectures by Dr. Andreas Kaufmann of Leica and Steven Sasson of Kodak (inventor of digital cameras).
