Sam Lindsey takes the engineer's seat at the front of the "Best Friend of Charleston," a steam engine replica built in 1928 by Southern Railway. The engine, along with a companion exhibit car, was visiting Laurel today for the National Railway Historical Society day celebration. The exhibit was in Laurel from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. a few blocks south of the train depot, during which time free rides were given to the public aboard the steam engine.
