Wallace was from Paulding, married Ella (Eloise), and they moved to Sandersville.  He was a pharmacist & optometrist.  He had $250.00 in cash and Mr. Dick Benson had $250.00 worth of equipment so they went together and formed the first drug store in Laurel in 1898.  Located on Front Street, they soon moved to Central Avenue, then moved to the corner of Magnolia and Oak Street, and are now located on North Magnolia.  Their home was purchased and restored in 1983 by Ed and Reed Diket."  [From a talk by Sam Lindsey, Jr. to the Laurel, MS DAR on January 16, 1990.]

  She was the first girl from Jones County to attend the  II & C (Industrial Institute and College) now known as MSCW in Columbus, MS.
