Notes Dr. Lindsey was born in Turnbull, Monroe County, Alabama.  He lived there until 1866, when the family moved to Claiborne, Jasper County, Mississippi where he was reared.  As a young man he attended Gaithright’s School, a Junior College at Macon, Mississippi, and later studied at the Baltimore Dental College, Baltimore, Maryland from which institution he graduated.  He returned to Mississippi and practiced dentistry in the communities of South Mississippi for seven years.  A period of seven years was next spent as a merchant in Sandersville, Mississippi, after which he farmed for an equal length of time.  The Lindsey 8 Wheel Log Wagon was first manufactured in Sandersville, Mississippi.  The plant burned and was re-established in Laurel, Mississippi, in 1901.  When the wagon factory was established in Laurel, Dr. Lindsey planned and put into effect the assembly line production system that received the big logs at one end of the building and turned out a finished wagon, all painted and ready to go, at the other end.  To this planning great economy of operation is attributed, that weathered good times and bad.
