Sam Lindsey Jr. & Lindsey Termite 1960    Sam Lindsey Jr. and Annie in 1960    Lindsey Termite in 1964 - Future Site of Hobby Corner

Sam Lindsey Jr. supported his family after World War II by starting off in the wood treatment business (Laurel Lumber-Treating) in Laurel, MS.  On the same location (between the Southern RR and the GM&O RR tracks), he started controlling pests with Lindsey Termite Control. The left two pictures show the office in 1960. The center picture shows the office and a converted herst named "Annie". Even though Annie was fitted out for termite control and for taking crews to the jobs, several members of the crews would not ride in it. Finally, in the late 1960's the operation grew to such an extent that it was moved to a new building on 1st Avenue. Lindsey Termite Control and Fencing was on the left side of the building and the right side became (in the 1970's) The Hobby Corner.
