This is a photograph of Sam Lindsey Jr.'s very large Lionel layout.  Taken in the late 1980's, this picture appeared in various newspapers and the Mississippi Power publication.

Although he loved almost everything about trains, he was especially interested in passenger trains.  When you look at the picture full-sized, you will note that almost all the trains are passenger ones.

One of Sam's greatest joys was to have groups of kindergarten or elementary school children come in and watch his trains in action.  With three main lines around the perimeter of the layout (12' x 24'), two main lines on a lower level, and an elevated track (where he is touching a train), there was an amazing amount of movement and noise when they all were going.
