Major systems are getting into their finishing phase.

The fire sprinkler system with its 12,000-gallon surge water supply is almost complete.  On this date, they were getting ready to pour concrete around some joints in the delivery pipes.  This concrete will help the joints withstand the surge of pressure that would occur when the system activates.

While there are still lots of loose wires yet to be connected, the new, emergency generator should be put on its pad and wired next week.  Light fixtures that were removed at the beginning of the work are almost completely replaced.  New lines that have been laid throughout the mansion are mostly live.  The electronics for the fire sprinkler system are complete.  Grounding for the electronic systems is almost complete.

But, there are still some things that need to be done.

One of the columns and the railing on the piazza are rotten.  This is located between the House Keeper’s Office and the Storage Room on the South end of the house.  I don’t know what the Park Service will authorize, but the damage to the column and railing is pretty severe.

Moving around to the front of the house. You can see in the photograph that there was once two large palm trees in the front. The one on the South side died and then fell, damaging the eves and gutters.

Finally, the top step on the back piazza (the piazza that was completely replaced) is severely cracked and will be replaced.

However, even in the August heat, the front yard is still something amazing.
