On the front porch of Plum Orchard, the reconstruction of the concrete surface is almost complete.

While the front porch is being finished, the back porch is next to be made safe.  If you blow up the photos you can see that the original porch was held up by railroad iron, some of which was almost completely rusted through.  That iron had to be removed before the new steel supports could be installed.  In this series of photos of John Mills and his crew from Kentucky, you can see the cutting away of the old iron, the man-handling of the new steel, and the adjustment of the new supporting structure.

Meanwhile under the house in the basement: from left to right.  Mike, the general contractor goes over plans to rebuild a side porch with new steel supports.  In the center, the electricians try to figure out how their wiring is going to go and where in the basement of the house.  On the right, one of the workers moves past some of the ancient machinery that fills a lot of the space in the basement.
