  Lock with a re-constructed relief dam on the right. A dam along side the canal about mile post 14 to keep the elevation of the canal.

Looking from a decomposing lock gate up the lock Looking from above the Canal to part of the Great Falls.  There is about a 60 foot difference between the water level in the Canal and the river at this point. At lock 16, a forged hinge holds part of the lock gates up even today.  Notice how the strap is held in place.
