Autumn Near the Kentlands 2002


Just upstream of the Violettes River Lock looking across the dam. While the rest of the Potomac River is frozen at this point, the rush of water over the dam keeps this part clear of ice.	At the Goose Creek River Lock, the Potomac River is completely frozen over. During the Summer, there are some rapids in this area. The pressure of the water caused the ice to buckle and make all these neat shapes.	At the Monocracy Viaduct, the Monocracy River is completely frozen over.

Just upstream of the Swains Lock, the Canal winds around hills.		At Swains Lock, the water flowing through cracks in the lock form all sorts of really intricate and pretty patterns.
