Bacon-Burnes House

213 Osborne Street

This house believed to have been built by Dr. Henry Bacon, possibly as early as in the 1830's. The house originally had two rooms downstairs and two bedrooms upstairs. (Observation, W. L. Stucki and County land records). Samuel Burns acquired the property 4 July 1871. (Q/338). The property was then deeded to Maria 0. Burns in 1882.(S/175-177.) In the late 1880's, a kitchen, two porches, a parlor, a bath, and two other smaller rooms were added. Later, the back porch was enclosed, creating two more rooms, and two additional rooms were constructed on the second floor. Ria Rudulph purchased the house in 1911 (W. L. Stucki) and rented it out to tenants, which included the Brandon sisters and Burdette Loomis (Interviews). M. B. Dickins purchased the house in 1942, and then in 1952, the property was deeded to G. W. Barker. Sometime during the mid-1900's, the house was enlarged to 14 rooms. In 1975, Barker sold the house to W. L. Stucki, who is restoring the house back to its 10-room status. (Stucki)
