For some reason, the Western Maryland Railroad has struck my fancy.  How I got from the swamps of Mississippi and logging to a coal hauling railroad is somewhat of a mystery.  Perhaps it is because of the scenery and the recorded sights and sounds of steam locomotives moving vast loads of coal through mountainous terrain.   Whatever the reason, I find this particular railroad to be a good focal point.

When this railroad links with another favorite of mine, the C&O Canal, I really have a good time.  Fortunately, the Western Maryland Railroad and the C&O Canal join at Williamsport, Maryland.
