["Laurel Leader-Call" Obituary, May 6, 1967]

Earle Lindsey, 79, of Taylorsville, son of the late John and Carrie Lindsey of Sandersville died Friday of an apparent heart attack.  He was enroute home from Jackson when his automobile left the highway.  He was pronounced dead on arrival at the Baptist Hospital, Jackson.

Lindsey was a graduate of the University of Mississippi and recipient of the Taylor medal in mathematics while attending school there.  He also attended Columbia University in New York and was a veteran of World War I, serving in the chemical warfare department.

He also helped organize the First Presbyterian Church in Taylorsville, where he served as elder and treasurer of the church and was active in Sunday School work.

For many years he was associated with his father and brothers in the old Lindsey Lumber Company in Laurel and Taylorsville.

Funeral Services were held Saturday, 3 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Taylorsville, with burial in Hickory Grove Cemetery, Laurel.

The Rev. Norman Bagby  officiated, assisted by Dr. Grayson Tucker.

He is survived by one niece, Mrs. Mary Lindsey Pepper, and two nephews, Jack Lindsey, III and Robert Lindsey Jr.

Pallbearers were W. C. Mayfield, J. W. Walker, C. A. Kennedy Jr., Max Kennedy, E. G. Ford, and E. P. Cooper.

Thompson Funeral Home was in charge.
